JoLynn Powers—I am a regional Writer, Blogger, and Community Artist living and working out of Buckhannon, West Virginia. I hold an B.A. degree in Art and American Literature and have spent most of my adult life trying to combine the two in some way. I often write about my love of the people, culture and history of Appalachia and West Virginia. I publish stories on my website—www.westvirginiamountainmama.com—and write for web magazines all over the country.
My other passion is community art. I have been a muralist for over 20 years, developing community art projects in North Central West Virginia. My murals reflect my love of Appalachian culture and traditions, often centering around folk art and the daily lives of our people. It is my hope to share the stories and art of Appalachia to a wider audience and dispel the negative stereotypes about our people and our region.
