Braxton County is located in the geographic center of West Virginia. It is famous for its monsters and ghosts. A fun day trip could be to find all five giant “monster” chairs in the county. Visitors also come for the “Flatwoods Monster” Museum and ghost-hunting at the Haymond House and Elk Hostel. Visitors who love water will enjoy the Sutton and Burnsville Lakes, the Elk River Water Trail, and the Little Kanawha River Trail.
