Winding your way south of Beverly WV, you pass Valley Bend and Eleanor Roosevelt’s Homestead experiment. Next is Mill Creek, a town that has come together to create its own clinic, library and Senior Center. Huttonsville boast sites on the National Historic Register, such as the EE Hutton House and the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church. It is not far from civil war sites such as the Cheat Mountain Fort and Elkwater where Colonel J.A. Washington died. He was a descendant of George Washington and an aide-de-camp to General Lee. Huttonsville also can boast of its resident glass-blower and sculptor with a studio and gallery at the crossroads.
