Augusta Event: West Virginia Mumming Traditions—Wintertime Cultural Celebrations, presented by Gerry Milnes

Gerry Milnes, Augusta Heritage Center’s former Folk Arts Coordinator, will tell us about West Virginia’s longstanding wintertime traditions of belsnickling and Shanghai. He will describe what people have done as part of the celebrations, show pictures he has collected of West Virginians participating in them, and play music that has been associated with theses traditions over the years.
